Community Guidelines

Spot Drop is for discovering and sharing outdoor places responsibly. These guidelines help keep people, private property, and the places we enjoy safer.

Treat people with respect

  • Be considerate in comments and interactions. Harassment, bullying, threats, hate, and targeted abuse are not allowed.
  • Do not impersonate another person or mislead people about who you are.
  • Do not post private information about someone else. This includes addresses, contact details, identifying documents, or other doxxing.

Share safe, honest information

  • Do not use Spot Drop to plan, promote, or facilitate illegal activity.
  • Location details must not be intentionally false or misleading, especially when inaccurate information could put someone at risk.
  • Do not post illegal, exploitative, or otherwise inappropriate imagery, or imagery that violates another person's privacy.
  • Keep posts relevant. Spam, scams, and repeated unwanted promotion may be removed.

Respect places and the outdoors

  • Only visit places where you have permission to be. Do not encourage trespassing, bypassing closures, or entering restricted areas.
  • Respect private property, posted rules, local restrictions, and the people who live and work near a spot.
  • Follow Leave No Trace principles: plan ahead, dispose of waste properly, leave what you find, and minimize your impact.
  • Give wildlife space. Do not disturb, feed, capture, or damage wildlife, plants, habitats, or natural features.
  • Use good judgment outdoors. Conditions change, and a shared spot is not a guarantee that a route or activity is safe or accessible.

Report concerns and help us moderate

  • Use the report option on a spot, comment, or profile when you see a possible violation. Include relevant context without sharing private information.
  • We may review reports, remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts when needed to protect people and places.
  • Repeated or serious violations may result in longer restrictions or permanent account suspension.
